What a divine day we all had at the Philip Lawrence awards. The
whole day was a great experience.
Winning the award made me feel really happy and
proud that Ekta and our achievements had been recognised nationally.
We were delighted that we received £1000
which will go towards our future projects. These future projects
include:
1. making an EKTA publicity pack for the schools
2. making multi cultural celebration cards
3. helping to promote multi-cultural events
in partnership with other community groups
Mixing with other youth groups at the awards ceremony
made me feel that it’s not just Ekta members who are making
a difference in life - we all are!

constructively challenge racism. It has also helped me become a
confident person and helped me with public speaking."
